Set of 4 cane Louis XV walnut armchairs stamped Pillot - 18th century. Pierre-Nicolas Pillot was one of the most talented seat makers outside Paris during 18th century, together with Nogaret. He mainly worked on Louis XV and Louis XVI productions, always with a great mastery. Only a small part of his production was stamped, so this set is quite exceptional. Out of the 4 armchairs, 3 are stamped Pillot and one is a excellent 20th century copy with the same perfect proportions, deep sculptures and well-balanced curves, which allows gathering 4 similar armchairs in the living room. They are set with a flat, rigid cushion covered with a luxurious 100% silk green fabric from Tassinari & Chatel, top French reference in terms of upmarket fabrics. The whole set is in excellent condition. The silk is new, the caning is healthy and tight, the structure was revised (2 footends were well restored).
