Empire drawing, early 19th century French school featuring a young woman walking on a bridge with a goat, knitting and holding a water bucket on the head. The exact same composition is also seen on an oil on canvas painted by Edouard Pingret - great French neoclassical painter - in 1828 : in all probability our drawing is a preparatory work before the oil on canvas.

Set into its original gold leaf gilt wood frame circa 1820.

In excellent condition, very clean. The paper has remained white after 200 years.
