Early 19th century French school, still life : bouquet of flowers in a rich Medicis-shaped vase standing on a marble. Oil on canvas set into a beautiful Empire gilt wood frame.
Much refined painting, scrupulous details depiction : the vase ornamented with Bacchus scenes and ram heads, the bouquet seems to be in relief, the fly on the vase with its shade, the marble sparkle, the delicate work on the flowers colours. Out painting is attributed to a follower of French painter Gerard van Spaendonck (of Dutch origins) or even his workshop.
