18th century French school, oil on canvas, portrait of Pope Benedict XIV sitting in a Louis XV sculpted gilt wood chair.

Our painting is an official copy of Pierre Subleyras's original, currently kept at chateau de Versailles Museum. During 18th century, copies were given by the Pope himself to important guests. Much refined details (velvet cape, embroidery, chair sculpture, stole decorated with gilt thread).

It is set in an Empire gold leaf gilt wood frame (original gilt).

The whole set is in excellent condition.
