18th century French school, portrait of an officer, Louis XVI period painting.

Our aristocrat is wearing a powdered wig and a cuirass adorned with a red scarf of Commander of the Royal and Military Order of Saint Louis, which attests to his high rank in the society and the army. Funny detail, it seems that the scarf was made later, which was often the case for family portraits : honorary decorations received by the family member after the portrait was made.

Handsome and very well executed. Unsigned. It kept its original canvas and frame.

Excellent condition, painting and frames cleaned.

Frame : 72cm x 61cm
Canvas : 60cm x 50cm
