18th century French school : large portrait of a gentleman, Louis XV period oil on canvas circa 1750. Our gentleman is wearing 1750 fashioned clothes, a wig and a grey velvet silk costume. He is holding a bill of exchange in the hand.
Our portrait very well painted with much care and precision on the facial features, the beard's shadows and the hands. Although not signed, Our spectacular portrait is a very fine piece of workmanship attributable to Donatien Nonnotte, famous portraitist among Lyon's aristocracy in mid-18th century.
It is set into a 19th century Rococo style gold leaf gilt wood frame.
In excellent condition, both painting and frame have been cleaned. Superb.
