19th century French school, architectural scene by Joseph dit Paul Paul Martin (1799- after 1861). Oil on canvas signed and dated 1857. Presented in a beautiful 19th century gold leaf gilt wood frame.

Our painting represents an imaginary city that grew in the painter's mind. Elements and buildings probably exist in different places ; they are gathered here by the painter in an original composition.

Beautiful, large painting, very decorative and evocative of the eclecticism during French Second Empire.

Painting in very good condition, cleaned. Antique frame gilt with gold leaf, adapted to the dimensions of our painting.
