Sevres porcelain : complete tea set for 12 guests : 12 tea cups with saucers, 1 large teapot, 1 milk jug, 1 covered sugar bowl.
Peyre pattern gilt with fine gold, EM or ME monogram.
Each piece has the double signature (S85 for 1885) and the stamp doré à Sèvres, French Republic dated 1888.
Sèvres manufacture was created during 18th century for King Louis XV and has always kept the first position since that. Peyre pattern was created for King Louis Philippe ; it is a flagship model of the manufacture, used for the Princes service in the royal palaces, then Imperial palaces.
It is very rare to find a complete and authentic Sèvres set. The factory often sold its white plates to porcelain merchants of Paris, who decorated and then gilt them. Only the pieces bearing - as ours - the double stamp date AND doré à Sèvres are the authentic ones.
In perfect condition, 130 years old and as good as new. Gilt very well preserved, no accident. A cooking crack inside the sugar bowl.
