Rare clock in the transition Louis XV - Louis XVI style (patinated & ormolu bronze). It shows a lion in black-brown patinated bronze, walking on a gilt bronze terrace and carrying a clock on his back, topped by an antique vase. Animals clocks had great success in the 18th century, evoking the Orient with elephants, rhinoceros and also felines. Our clock is a mid 19th century production (Napoleon III period), it is a perfect reissue of a 18th century pattern.
