Rare small secretary / writing desk designed for a child, rosewood and violet wood marquetry, Breche d'Alep marble and ormolu. Louis XV period, mid 18th century.
No stamp, but undoubtedly the work of a great Parisian cabinetmaker, like Leonard Boudin for example - quality close to our matching commode.
Interesting collector showing that during 18th century, rich and aristocratical families used to have the same pieces of furniture for adults and children, only smaller sizes.
We can also use it as an regular desk for an adult, in a small appartment (a laptop perfectly fits inside).
Our piece of furniture is in very good condition : the polish has been cleaned. Violetwood is a bit insolated and can be fully restored on demand ; but it is very nice in current condition.
