Large, spectacular Empire solid mahogany, ormolu and mahogany veneer console (veneer of oak). Parisian production attributed to Jacob Desmalter, early 19th century circa 1810.

The drawer is ornamented with a large ormolu frieze picturing Apollo's chariot. A Thick gray granite marble on top, a mercury mirror in the background.

It bears an inventory number below (379 on a label and written with ink). The importance of its dimensions, its quality and the ornamentation richness makes our console typical of the pieces of furniture found in the apartments of Princes within the Imperial Palaces. It may be a production of Jacob Desmalter or Marcion who also made this type of console for the imperial furniture store. Without a stamp, it is difficult to attribute with certainty to one or the other of these two cabinetmakers, both main suppliers of the Imperial Palaces and dignitaries of the Empire.

In very good condition, beautiful antique varnish cleaned and repolished by our cabinetmaker. Small antiques restorations and traces of former accidents. Spectacular piece.
