Beautiful satinwood, amaranth and tinted boxtree marquetry chest of drawers, Transition period (18th century). Rich, finely chiseled mercury gilt bronze ornamentation (lion head corners, laurels wreath, ribbon knots, mask, lion paws). Original thick Aleppo breche marble. Beautiful, elegant work circa 1775.
Great Parisian cabinetmaker Francois Rubestuck stamp. Also, the ormolu trims are the same as those used by famous French cabinetmaker Nicolas Petit. Our commode os probably the result of both cabinetmakers collaboration.
Our beautiful chest is in excellent condition. No accident, antique small veneer restoration. It has been restored by our cabinetmaker, varnished in a traditional way. Mercury gilt in well preserved.
