Le Creusot crystal oval bowl, fruit compote or centrepiece, finely cut with diamond-point decoration. The decoration is of great complexity and entirely executed by hand. Early 19th century — Empire / Restoration / Charles X period (circa 1815–1820), Manufacture Royale du Creusot.
The Montcenis manufactory at Le Creusot was taken over in 1804 by Jean-François Chagot ; under the Restoration (Louis XVIII and Charles X) the crystal works regained its royal status. This period (1814–1830) was the most prosperous. The high quality of its production earned several gold medals at the national industrial exhibitions. The crystal works produced numerous chandeliers, vases, lamps and clocks, as well as a wide range of small crystal objects such as bottles, decanters, tumblers, glasses, egg cups, mustard pots and bowls.
Perfectly clear crystal, luxurious materials and a striking visual effect : a fine collector’s large piece in excellent condition.
