Rare gilt wood Duke crown shaped canopy holder, top of a canopy bed or to be placed on top of a coats of arms in an estate hall. France, 19th century.
Beautiful, very decorative piece, rare item to find, especially since it is the attribute of a ducal family, the highest rank in the nobility below princes.
Very good condition, old restoration, the crown is lined with an iron strapping to support the weight of the curtain. Antique gold leaf gilt cleaned by our gilder.
