French antique sterling silver samovar, late 19th century, in the style of Louis XVI (18th century). Our samovar is soberly decorated with acanthus. Sterling silver samovar are a difficult item to find on the antiques market : they more often silver plated. French hallmark Minerva first standard (.950 : the highest purity silver you will ever find) and Joseph Alexandre Martel's mark stamped (active from 1888-1914). Excellent condition : silver is still polished, there are no bumps or hollows, no scratch, no distortion. The wick machanism does not work properly, but this does not prevent to use the samovar, and certainly does not affect the decorative aspect of the object.
